Here are some Simple, Easy Easter Recipes you may want to add to your menu:

In My Kitchen - October 2015

It's time for another round of the very cool monthly happening called "In My Kitchen" run by Celia at Fig Jam and Lime Cordial. I can't believe it's already been over a year since joining in the fun!

So here we go....

This Month in my Kitchen...

Between work projects for both of us and trying to recover from being sick, September seemed to blow by so very quickly. But we did have a chance to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi and meet up with friends we haven't seen in awhile. And it seems I got my wish from last month, October has started with lots of rain, as is evident by the amount of mushrooms in our yard! :)

We celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi, the Birthday celebration of the Elephant-Headed God known as the Remover of Obstacles. The festival begins by making a handmade clay Ganesha, inviting him to inhabit the murti (clay), perform puja, and serving his favorite goodies: homemade favorites like Mango Rice, Cabbage Vada, Sweet Potato Bonda, and of course Coconut Date Modaks.

Our Garden is starting to slow down as the nights are getting colder, and days are getting shorter; but we are still getting plenty of Eggplants, Hot Peppers, Tomatillos, Beans, and Tomatoes.

As a mouse how could I pass up the opportunity to attend a Lecture and Cheese tasting presented at work from Valley Shepherd Creamery. The Cheese was delicious, and they were by no means stingy with variety or the size of the samples! :)

I started sprouting some Turmeric and Ginger to plant in the house over the winter. What better than some fresh Ginger Tea when your feeling a little under the weather.

One of the many pleasures of my job is the interesting research and enthusiastic researchers I get to meet. Stay tuned, in the next few days I'll be posting a tour of the Tropical Ag Farm program which includes Rutgers famed Hot Pepper Program.

Crispy Okra Salad with ShrimpRecipe coming soon...

This month I'd like to introduce a monthly linkup I hope you all will join called "Food 'n Film"! :)

I'm on Instagram! You can find me @cookingforkishore.
Feel free to instagram any recipes you try here and use #cookingforkishore.
Looking forward to hearing from you all! :)

    1. Thanks Sherry! Yes, I made that Ganesha, it's been a while since I've played with clay but what better reintroduction. Yes, those mushrooms are edible but maybe only in desperation...they turn to mush as soon as they are picked. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you join up with Food 'n Film! :)

    1. Thanks Maree! Why not do it, I think everyone needs help with removing obstacles! You can celebrate Diwali this year, that centers on Ganesha and Lakshmi (Wealth and Light). If you need any help you can always send me an email! :)

  7. The eggplants looks great! I love Okra too so crispy Okra sound delish.
Of course my knowledge of Ganesh is limited to Homer Simpson’s exploits on the topic so I’m always glad to gain a little knowledge from a real expert…
